Although summer is still holding on for a little longer, it’s time to start looking towards fall trends and prepping your closet for the season! Today, I want to share with you two patterns: the Itch to Stitch Zamora Blouse (aff) and Samara (aff). Both of these patterns were a pleasure to sew and come with easy to understand instructions.
The Zamora Blouse
Zamora Blouse Features:
- A, B, C, D and DD cups for the perfect fit
- Feminine V neck with a bow tied at the neck
- Buttoned front
- Gathered sleeve cap and sleeve cuff
- Intricate front released tucks
- Back pleat that adds comfort
- 3/4 and bracelet sleeve length options
- Layers feature (print only the sizes you need)
Skill Level: Intermediate+
Sizes: 00 – 20
I sewed my Zamora in a sparkly silver linen by Robert Kaufman. It’s a great blouse for a day in the office. Personally, I consider this style to be feminine and ideal for making an impression on everyone. If you want to wear something elegant and sweet looking, the Zamora Blouse is what you really need. This top comes with ladylike appeal and already features a trendy accessory.
The bust tucks were probably the most time consuming part of the project but wow does it look beautiful. The front and back darts slim and accentuate the waist.
For a fun look you could even half tuck the blouse into your favorite skirt or pants like I did with the Samara. This casual-chic look is waist defining and comfortable.
The Samara
Samara Pants Features:
- Wide legs that flare from hip down
- Straight waistband sits on narrowest part of waist
- Back waist darts for shaping
- Side invisible zipper closure
- Layers feature (print only the sizes you need)
Skill Level: Beginner+
Sizes: 00 – 20
I’m in love with a good pair of wide-leg black shorts! When I decided to make the Samaras, I wanted a culottes style so they appeared more like a skirt than shorts. The pattern is designed for full length pants but sometimes changing things up is good. I feel these will prove to be versatile and classic. Heading into fall, I love them paired with Zamora.
I sewed my knee length Samaras in a light weight polyester woven I found at Walmart. I think it’s safe to say flowy, lightweight shorts look great with everything.
Wide-legged and breezy, these pants also offer you ultra comfort with an understated elegant look. The Samara pants are high-waisted and visually lengthen your body like magic. The side invisible zipper is discreet, so it does not interrupt the overall clean look.
Throw on some heels or favorite pair of boots and you’re set!

Culottes are so much easier to wear on a everyday basis than a skirt in my opinion and yours are perfect paired the blouse.
